Hwy 101 Tunnel Progress and More Fences

After a brief delay caused by the rain two weeks ago the Hwy 101 jack and bore is moving along at a steady pace. With more than 160 of the 330 foot tunnel bored it should take a several more weeks to complete the tunnel and subsequent pipe installation. This will be the fifth of six total tunnels completed on the Peninsula section of the BDPL5 project. Below are the restoration photos followed by detailed construction and restoration updates.

Construction Update
San Mateo County
  • Continue rebar and form work at the Pulgas Valve Vault (in Pulgas Open Space)
  • Continue pipe installation along Edgewood Road
  • Traffic controls in place on Crestview Drive as Edgewood Road work approaches
North Fair Oaks
  • Install pipe at Redwood City Valve House on El Camino Real
  • Close and clean up SamTrans jack and bore site
Menlo Park
  • Continue tunneling under Hwy 101
  • Finalize tree protection fencing on Bay Road
Restoration Update
Parks
  • Begin restoration of North Fair Oaks Community Playground
  • Complete restoration of Fleishman Park

  • Curb and gutter repair work between 5th and 11th Ave
