Happy Thanksgiving!

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, the BDPL5 Peninsula Team would like to thank the communities of Redwood City, North Fair Oaks and Menlo Park for their support as we continue to repair, replace and seismically upgrade portions of the Bay Area's regional water system. Beginning tomorrow, our crews will take a much deserved break from pipeline construction to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families. Night work on Middlefield will resume on Sunday, November 28th and work in other areas will resume on Monday, November 29th.

We wish you and your family a very happy holiday!

Thank you for your patience during construction!

Pipe installed up to Middlefield Rd!

Installation of the BDPL5 is moving forward and we have reached Middlefield Rd.  As construction continues, don't forget to patronize the local businesses on Middlefield, which continue to be open during the construction. We will continue night work on Middlefield for the next few weeks, between the hours of 10pm-6am. There will be no work over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Upcoming night work on Middlefield Rd

Starting this Sunday, November 14th, SFPUC will start work in preparation of installing BDPL 5 in the SFPUC Right of Way where it crosses
Middlefield Road
between Berkshire and 1st Avenues in Redwood City.  Due to the high volume of traffic on this street, this work will be performed at night, during the hours of 10 pm to 6 am, on Sunday nights through Friday mornings, in November and part of December.

Hydroseeding!

You will notice a unusual gray coating that is showing up on the SFPUC right of way, as we are restoring the soil. We are hydroseeding the soil, so that vegetation can begin to grow. This will also prevent erosion when the rainy season starts. Hydroseeding typically consists of applying a mixture of wood fiber, seed, fertilizer, and stabilizing emulsion with hydromulch equipment. If you live near the SFPUC right of way, you will be able to see and smell the soil. The smell could last up to 3 weeks. It's important to stay off areas that have been hydroseeded until the grass is fully established. Also, don't attempt to water it to wash it away, because it will only make the smell stronger and last longer.

We are finishing our night work on El Camino!

Just a quick update that we are finishing our night work on El Camino Real.  Final paving should be done by next week.  Thank you for your patience as we restore El CaminoReal.
